Fidalgo Bay Habitat Mitigation
Floyd|Snider has provided a broad range of environmental consulting and engineering design services to the Port of Anacortes. Floyd|Snider developed a maintenance dredge design and provided construction support for the Fidalgo Bay Habitat Restoration project. Dredged materials from the northern reach of the USACE Swinomish Federal Navigation Channel were beneficially used for the Port’s Fidalgo Bay Mitigation Project, a 6.5-acre eelgrass creation project intended to provide mitigation for various Port projects. The design and construction efforts were completed as a cooperative effort between the Port of Anacortes, USACE, and Swinomish Tribe. Floyd|Snider provided design and construction management services to oversee the dredging, transport, and placement of approximately 60,000 CY of Swinomish Channel sediment to within the permitted mitigation site in Fidalgo bay to raise the existing subtidal depression grade to achieve elevations that support successful growth of eel grass.
