Kent Highlands Landfill

Floyd|Snider and/or Dr. Teri A. Floyd have assisted Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) at Midway and Kent Highlands Landfills since the 1980s. Both sites were major municipal landfills serving the City of Seattle and surrounding areas. They closed under historical landfill closure laws but became Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) Superfund sites in the mid to late 1980s when the early Superfund process focused on closed municipal landfills. Dr. Floyd was the project chemist on both sites throughout the CERCLA Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) process, serving as a major author in both documents. Floyd|Snider has continued this work since 1996, assisting SPU with 5-year Reviews, long-term compliance, facility upgrades, and delisting.
